The State of Palestine welcomed the decision of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Fatou Bensouda, to open an investigation into alleged crimes cimmitted in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. The State of Palestine indicated the need to speed up the initiation of the investigation to combat impunity and dissuade perpetrators of the continuing Israeli crimes. Furthermore, the State of Palestine called on the states parties to respect their responsibilities and not to politicize the course of this independent investigation, while affirming its full readiness to cooperate with the ICC  regarding the implementation of its duties following the Rome Statute.
