Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Palestine, Riyad al-Maliki, in his speech before the Security Council, called for the revival of the Quartet and the launch of an international peace conference similar to the Madrid Conference three decades ago. He stressed that Palestine’s call for multilateral participation in the negotiations is an attempt to ensure the bilateral negotiations’ success rather than to evade them. Al-Maliki pointed out that the current situation on the ground including the unlawful unilateral measures committed by the occupying power impedes the achievement of peace and requires an urgent intervention from the international community to restore peace.
