The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned Honduras’ move of its embassy to Jerusalem and considered it a flagrant violation of international law and UN resolutions regarding the holy city and its legal and political status. Honduras has moved its embassies in Israel from Tel Aviv to occupied Jerusalem. The Ministry noted that this decision completely contradicts the decision taken by Honduras to recognize the state of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital on August 26, 2021. It is also considered an unjustified opposition to the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination on their land and therefore also contradicts the Honduras Constitution, which stipulates in Article 15 that “Honduras supports the principles and practices of international law, that promote the solidarity and self-determination of peoples, nonintervention and the strengthening of universal peace and democracy.” For further details, click here
