The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said that prisoner Muhammad al-Halabi, 43 years old from Gaza, has been subjected to a series of unprecedented and complicated set of unlawful measures involving the judicial system in Israel to prevent his release. The ministry said that Israel’s courts are an integral part of the occupation system, as they are complicit in denying al-Halabi his freedom, including by violating international laws. Al-Halabi has been in jail for 6 years now, without any specific charges against him. The ministry recently followed up on his case during the UN Human Rights Council session, which was held in Geneva to discuss the report of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights. The ministry stressed that it is the duty of the international community to hold Israel accountable for its systematic violations against Palestinians at large. For further details, click here
