The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates called on the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the Security Council to assume their political, moral and legal responsibilities in regards to the illegal settlements, also calling on them to take measures to guarantee the implementation of the relevant international law decisions, foremost of which is Resolution 2334. The Ministry further called on the ICC to open an official investigation into the crimes of the Israeli occupation, notably the illegal settlements, in order to hold Israeli war criminals accountable. The Foreign Ministry condemned Israel’s plan to approve building 850 settlement units in the West Bank, in implementation of the policy of settlement expansion carried out by Israel in the occupied Palestinian territories. This is made either by expanding settlements and existing random outposts or stealing more Palestinian lands, in an attempt to permanently close the door to any opportunities to establish a sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. The Foreign Ministry held “the occupying power and the outgoing US Trump administration fully and directly responsible for the results and repercussions of the Zionist colonial annexation and expansion plans on the chances of achieving peace based on the two-state solution and recognized international references.” To check the news, click here
