The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expats said that the Israeli authorities’ establishment of a settlement outpost south of Hebron is an evidence of the failure of the Security Council to assume its responsibilities. It held the Israeli government, headed by Naftali Bennett, fully and directly responsible for the escalating crime of settlement and its consequences and repercussions on the possibilities of achieving peace and implementing the principle of the two-state solution, considering that the settlement escalation is a disregard for the US and international positions calling for stopping unilateral measures that would prejudice the issues of the permanent negotiated solution. In addition, the ministry said, “Settlements are increasing everywhere in the occupied West Bank, and the occupation government steals all areas classified as (C) without any deterrent, accountability or oversight.” The ministry stressed that inaction, indifference and the policy of double standards have all become the most prominent feature that dominates the UN Security Council and its successive formal sessions.
