The permanent representative of the State of Palestine to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization “UNESCO” Ambassador Mounir Anastas stressed the need for the organization to carry out its duties towards the Palestinian heritage, which is being subjected to severe assaults by the Israeli occupation, especially in Jerusalem and Hebron and the towns of Battir in Bethlehem and Sebastia near Nablus. Anastas called on the international community to coerce the occupation into ending its violations against the Palestinian heritage. The head of the Egyptian National Committee to UNESCO, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, stressed the sensitivity of the Palestinian issue and condemned the repeated and illegal violations in the Palestinian areas, calling on international entities to end the Israeli crimes against the Palestinian heritage and educational institutions.
