The Palestinian Human Rights Organizations Council reported that it submitted a petition in response to the inter-state complaint lodged with the UN committee for the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination by the state of Palestine. In the report, the council affirmed that any meaningful analysis of Israel’s violations of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination directed towards the Palestinians should be done in the context of Article 3 which prohibits and condemns apartheid. The council concluded the report with a list of recommendations, including, urging the committee to declare the contribution of Israel’s discriminatory laws, policies, and practices to generating institutional system for racial domination and oppression against the Palestinian people. In addition to that, it urged the state parties to the Rome Statute to cooperate with the investigation of the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) as a viable independent judicial body capable of ending impunity for the crimes committed in the occupied Palestinian territory, and to deter further crimes in the future.
