Two activists in support of Palestinian rights filed a lawsuit calling on the Canadian government to dissolve and prosecute a settlement association registered in Canada and operates in the USA and Canadian territories, to collect donations for the benefit of the Israeli settlements established on the occupied Palestinian territories. The lawsuit asked the Canadian government to revoke the charitable status of the Canadian Zionist Cultural Association (CZCA) and to investigate whether its operations comply with Canadian charitable laws that clearly state that supporting the armed forces of another country is not charitable. The lawsuit referred to a publication on the website of the Israel Defense Forces in which it was confirmed that the Zionist organization is authorized to collect donations for the Israeli army, as the publication was removed after Canadian media outlets covered the issue. The lawsuit stated that the Zionist Organization allocated $1.7 million to the Israeli “YAHAD” organization, which works for the Israeli army in searching for the bodies of its missing soldiers and other purposes.
