The researcher Johan D. van der Vyver published a paper at the Faculty of Law of Emory University entitled: “Israel and the Territorial Integrity of States”. The researcher highlighted the safety of the Palestinian lands as the main topic for his study, and the active settlement on the Palestinian lands. Van der Vyver talked about the international position on the Israeli settlement in the Palestinian territories and its condemnation under the 4th Geneva Conventions of August 12, 1949, and the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, respectively. He further dealt with the peace plan announced by Donald Trump in January 2020, which included Israeli control over unified Jerusalem as its capital, annexation of Palestinian lands so that the Jordan River would be its eastern border and Israel’s sovereignty over Jewish settlements in Judea and Samaria. The researcher finally sheds light on the opinions that protested the non-inclusion of the Palestinian Authority in the design of the Trump plan, in addition to the fact that Israel’s seizure of Palestinian lands constitutes a flagrant violation of the territorial integrity of Palestine.
