The Journal of Constitutional Law and Political Institutions published a study titled “Legal rules for protecting the environment in the occupied state of Palestine under the Israeli occupation” by researcher Mounir Abu Rahma. The issues of the study are centered around the legal standards for environmental preservation in the occupied State of Palestine under Israeli occupation. The research attempted to illustrate the Israeli occupation’s international responsibility for breaking international humanitarian law in the occupied territories, and addressed how Israel abused the force of law in the Palestinian territories and used it to promote its settlers’ goals. According to the study, the Palestinian environmental pollution problem still lacks the effort required to activate the responsibilities involved. At the conclusion of the study, Abu Rahma urged the United Nations to find ways of protection and develop international control mechanisms to assure compliance with international legal norms. He also urged the Palestinian Authority to expediate the ratification of international treaties on high-risk environmental concerns. For further details, click here
