Researcher Suzanne Morrison publishes a new article in the Globalizations Journal, Volume 19, Issue 1 of 2022, titled: “Border-crossing repertoires of contention: Palestine activism in a global justice context.” Back in 2005, there was a global call for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) declared against Israel which aimed to ensure they follow international law and human rights principles. Based on Charles Tilly’s concept of contentious repertoires, this article argues that BDS promotes the issue of Palestine into wider progressive frameworks, such as global justice. This is done through the way the movement makes claims (repertoire) and the object of its claims (targets). Through these parallel repertoires and targets, BDS has been able to expand onto its movement and advance Palestine’s cause into wider global justice contexts. For Further details, click here
