Researcher Walid Salem published a new article in the Journal of Iraqi Scientific Society of Manuscripts, Volume 3, Special Issue of 2022, titled, “Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif: Freedom of Worship and Political Sovereignty.”
This article puts forth several arguments. Firstly, the idea of rebuilding the Temple in the place of the Holy Sanctuary is an idea created to advance the political sovereignty of “Israel.” Secondly, if this Zionist perception is globalized and every nation demanded the restoration of religious places that were destroyed years ago the result would be chaos. Thirdly, Jews never had the right to worship around the Al-Buraq wall. However, during the British Mandate period, the British government permitted Jews to pray near the Al-Buraq Wall while simultaneously claiming Al-Aqsa Mosque is exclusively for Muslims. Lastly, the paper proposes a solution to the issue of holy places in Palestine from an International Relations perspective.
