Researchers Michel Di Maio and Valerio Leon Ciapolas published a paper on the impact of exposure to conflict on health in the Gaza Strip in the Journal of Health Economics. The researchers used individual-level data and local geographic information on conflict-related violent incidents. The results showed that individuals who live in places exposed to more conflict events are more likely to suffer from physical disability and chronic disease. The researchers discussed the role of conflict in increasing the difficulty of accessing health facilities and reducing per capita income and the impact of this on the public health of individuals.
