Researchers Yoav Kapshuk and Lisa Strombom have released a new study, In Cambridge University Press, Volume 54, Issue 3 of 2021 titled: “Israeli Pre-Transitional Justice and the Nakba Law.” This article explains how attempting to put an end to debates can increase public discourse on issues that have previously been disregarded. Paradoxically, when one’s freedom of expression is taken away the result is often increased discussion about previously silenced truths. This paper conducts a case study about reactions to Pre-Transitional Justice in Israeli Society while focusing on the so-called Nakba Law. Firstly, the relationship between pre-transitional justice and the Nakba Law is explored. Secondly, the paper shows how despite the fact the Nakba Law has tried to prevent the freedom of expression it has created discussions and awareness about the meaning of Nakba.
