A Romanian delegation headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Bogdan Aurescu, visited the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in Jordan, where they discussed the socio-economic situation of Palestine refugees in Jordan and other UNRWA areas of operation. The Minister and his delegation further discussed the importance of protecting and strengthening the humanitarian and development services that the Agency provides to this vulnerable population, especially in light of the global COVID-19 pandemic, protracted conflicts in the region, and recurrent funding crises. Minister Aurescu announced a new donation by his country of 150,000 euros to UNRWA in order to provide basic services. Funds from Romania will be allocated to education and healthcare services in all five UNRWA areas of operation to help ensure the uninterrupted delivery of services. For further details, click here
