A member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Saleh Raafat, said, “efforts are made with all countries regarding the Security Council session that will be held under the chairmanship of Tunis at the end of this month to put an end to the settlement policy.” He emphasised that this session comes after the departure of the former US President Donald Trump’s administration and the new President Joe Biden assuming the administration of the White House, expressing his hope that Biden will follow the policy of former President Obama at the end of his term when he abstained from voting on Resolution 2334 concerning settlement, which enabled the Security Council to adopt it.
Raafat also added that work is also continuing at the level of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to obtain a ruling on the files that were submitted to the court regarding settlements. Raafat stressed the continuation of the popular movement on the ground in all the northern governorates to mobilize the Palestinian people with all its political forces, institutions and civil organizations, and to form committees to confront “the attacks of organized settler gangs that are carried out with the protection of the occupation army,” as he put it.
