The Israeli Supreme Court issued a decision stipulating the “Settlement Law in Judea and Samaria 2017”, which allows expropriation of Palestinian lands that are privately owned in the event that they are seized by settlers or the occupation army. The court affirmed that the law was “contrary to the rules and spirit of the law” and ordered its repeal. This law provides for the confiscation of lands on which settlers reside in settlement units, even if Palestinians prove in the documents that they own this land. Rights organizations estimate that the law was initiated by Israel to legislate more than four thousand settlement units established on land owned by Palestinians in more than 50 outposts distributed throughout the occupied West Bank.
