Twenty-six Maltese institutions and civil society organizations called on the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malta, Evarist Bartolo, to condemn the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people. These institutions sent to the Minister a letter entitled: “In Solidarity with Palestine,” which concerns the recent escalation in the region following the decision of the Israeli occupation authorities to forcefully expel Palestinian families from their homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and give them to settlers. This is a contravention of international law and violates international humanitarian conventions. The letter underlined the strong ties of historical friendship that bring together Palestine and Malta. The signatories called on the Maltese Government to work to use all available diplomatic means to protect the rights and security of the Palestinian people. They called on Malta to work with the European Union to hold accountable those responsible for human rights violations. For further details, click here
