Ihsan Adel is the Founder and Chair of Law for Palestine, an international lawyer, and a PhD researcher in international law in Germany, with a focus on “The Threshold of Occupation’s Legality and the International Responsibility towards its Termination.” Adel holds a master’s degree in international humanitarian law addressing the “The legal status of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails according to the international humanitarian law rules.”
Adel has more than ten years of experience working in the human rights field in the MENA region, and with refugees in Europe. He worked on several human rights projects in several countries, including: Palestine, Jordan, Libya, the Gulf, Egypt, Yemen, Italy, Greece, and with the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland.
Adel is also the co-founder of Visto International for Rights and Development in Sweden (a think tank that aims to promote concepts and practices of sustainable development and human rights across the Middle East and North Africa, and its diaspora communities, especially in Europe).
He has published several articles and two books, one of which dealt with the question of “Palestine as a non-member observer state of the United Nations, the legal and political dimensions”, and the other – published in a co-authored book- dealt with the IHL regulations of arresting civilians in the time of occupation. Furthermore, he is an Arab League and ICRC certified trainer in international humanitarian law, and a regular commentator for several TV channels, including Al-Jazeera, Al-Arabiya, France 24 and DW.
