Supporters of the Palestinian right in the United States submitted a draft of a law to be adopted by the Democratic Party in California, demanding the repeal of tax exemptions which benefits from it organizations that collect donations from Americans to fund Israeli settlement organizations in the West Bank, including the occupied Jerusalem. The draft law calls for the California Democratic Party to oppose granting tax-exempt status to organizations that promote or engage in acts that are illegal or incompletable with international law. Institutions supporting the Palestinian right explained that many American non-profit companies, most notably the Central Fund of Israel, have been granted tax-exempt status as “charities” under IRC 501(c)(3), noting that they are allowed to collect millions of dollars in tax revenue – deductible donations where they are used to support or promote activities that are illegal or inconsistent with international law.
