The Permanent Arab Committee for Human Rights called on the international community and all its concerned institutions, especially the Human Rights Council and its special mechanisms, to take the necessary measures to protect and prevent the displacement of the people of Sheikh Jarrah in the city of Jerusalem, who are threatened with forced eviction and seizure of their homes. The committee affirmed in its statement that the forced displacement of the residents of Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood from their homes and the aggression against the Gaza Strip would constitute a war crime and a crime against humanity, and that Jerusalemites are protected residents under international law, and that there is no authority for the occupation to prosecute them, under Security Council Resolution 478. The committee also called on the international community, including the United Nations and the Human Rights Council, to shoulder their moral and legal responsibilities, and to support the criminal court investigation into Israeli crimes against the Palestinians.
