Assistant Secretary General for Palestinian and Occupied Arab Territories of the Arab League, Said Abu Ali, demanded the European Union to sway Israel from disrupting the electoral process in the occupied Palestinian territories (including Jerusalem), nor prohibit special staffers comprising of international observers. Abu Ali demanded further efforts to pressure Israel into complying with the principles of international law and the resolutions of international legitimacy. He also invited to accept the Arab peace initiative, aimed at achieving a just, lasting and comprehensive peace in the region by ending the occupation and establishing an independent and sovereign Palestinian State, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
