The Arab Parliament Chairman; Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al-Asoumi, condemned the decision of the Israeli Minister of Public Security, Amir Ohana, not to provide the prisoners with COVID-19 vaccine. In a letter addressed to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Al-Asoumi considered the decision a violation of the Third Geneva Convention, which is imposed on the occupation that holds prisoners and detainees, providing them with full medical care, and a violation of the rights of prisoners, who are a group protected by the international law, as it is racial discrimination against them. Besides, He called on the international community to provide legal protection for prisoners and detainees, to bear legal and humanitarian responsibility for their lives, to pressure the occupation to provide means of prevention, to take all preventive measures to protect them from the danger of catching the virus. Moreover, he called on the international community to force Israel to conduct tests for the prisoners, provide the necessary health care, and ensure getting COVID-19 vaccination, under the supervision of the World Health Organization, to ensure that the vaccine reaches them without any manipulation by Israel.
