On May 14, the House of Lords ’Committee on International Relations and Defense has said that the United Kingdom should consider imposing severe economic sanctions on Israel if the latter goes ahead with its plans to annex large parts of the West Bank. The chair of the committee, Joyce Anelay, who is also a Conservative Party has said that the upcoming Israeli government’s plan would violate international law and endanger the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, and asked the Israeli government to limit its preferential access to British markets as a response to such a move.
