The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor condemned Israel’s rejection to cooperate with the ICC after the latter’s declaration to investigate potential war crimes committed in the occupied Palestinian territories since 1967. The Euro-Med Monitor considered Israel’s decision stems from its recognition that its forces have indeed committed violations which may amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity. This explains its decision not to cooperate with any international investigations, in order to avoid accountability. The Euro-Med Monitor called on ICC to initiate the investigations and to not acquiesce to any political pressure, and not allow the parties involved to evade their responsibilities.
