The global BDS movement said that the Spanish company “CAF,” manufactures railway vehicles and equipment, and the Israeli infrastructure company “Shapir” were chosen by the Israeli Ministry of Finance to expand the railway network that serves Israeli settlements in the OPT, known as the Jerusalem Light Rail “JLR”. As part of the boycott campaign against the company, the BDS movement said that the JLR project is against international law because it strengthens Israel’s hold on the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, and by participating in this project, CAF contributes to Israeli severe violations of the international law and Palestinian human rights.
