The Human Rights Council discussed the report of the High Commissioner on ensuring accountability under the second item of the Council’s work in reference to Israel’s failure to undertake fair investigations into its violations, particularly extrajudicial killings and the targeting of civilians in the 2008/2009 operation against Gaza. The meeting also discussed the recommendations of the Truth Commission chaired by Judge Goldstone, as well as the Commission of Inquiry into the 2014 military operation and the Commission of Inquiry concerning attacks on peaceful demonstrations in 2018.
