The Independent Commission for Human Rights held a meeting via Zoom app, which discussed the necessity of adopting a law for union organizing that enables workers to choose their representatives and their right to collective bargaining and social dialogue.
Jurists, unionists, and activists participating in the meeting from the West Bank and Gaza Strip demanded the need to accelerate the building of a social protection system as one of the rights stipulated in the Palestinian Basic Law, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, activate the labor courts, invite the Ministry of Labor to assume its responsibilities towards monitoring Palestinian installations, ensure the implementation of the Palestinian labor law, and adhere to occupational health and safety standards.
