The Attorney-General of the Israeli government, Avichai Mandelblit, refused to intervene in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood case, leaving the decision to the Israeli High Court, declaring that this is a legal matter and that it is a human rights issue that depends on procedural decisions and complex databases. The Israeli High Court had given Mandelblit, until Tuesday, June 8, to present his position on the case of evacuating Palestinian families from their homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood, before the court decides whether or not to postpone the deliberations on the Sheikh Jarrah case to another date. In its decision, the court wrote that it had received the position of the attorney general, and they will consider how to handle the processing of the petition submitted in this regard.
