The Israeli government decided to delay the vote on the Citizenship Law until next week, as it is expected not to be ratified, due to the negative stand from extending the validity of the ban on Palestinian family reunification in force since 2003, knowing that the law affects about 45,000 Palestinian families. The suspension comes in light of the opposition expressed by deputies from the Joint List and Knesset members from the Meretz party to extending the ban on family reunification, as well as due to the position of the opposition bloc headed by Benjamin Netanyahu, where opposition parties announced that they will not vote alongside the government in extending the family reunification ban. Although it had previously voted 18 times to extend the validity of the ban on family reunification for Palestinian families. For further details, click here
