The League of Arab States warned that failure to pay salaries to UNRWA’s employees would lead to its inability to provide its services to more than 5.5 million Palestinian refugees. Saeed Abu Ali, The Arab League Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and the Occupied Arab Territories, said that the General Secretariat is following with great concern the deteriorating financial crisis of UNRWA, which has taken a serious turn in the past weeks. He called on the donor countries and the United Nations to act quickly to fulfil their obligations, calling on them to take the initiative to expedite the submission of contributions and financial commitments approved for UNRWA to enable it to carry out its duties as a title of international commitment to the Palestinian refugee issue, until a just solution to their case is found following the international legitimacy resolutions.
