The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) said in a statement: “The painful fifty-second anniversary of the burning of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque takes place on this day in light of the continuation of Israeli violations and attacks against Palestinian citizens in the neighborhoods of Al-Quds, especially the right of Al-Aqsa, in the context of implementing the policies of the occupying power aimed at Judaizing the city of Jerusalem and changing its geographical and demographic character, and isolating it from its Palestinian surroundings, in flagrant violation of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.” The organization renewed its firm support for the right of the State of Palestine to protect the identity of Arab Jerusalem, preserve its human heritage, and preserve the sanctity of all Islamic and Christian holy sites. It called on the international community to engage in a serious peace process based on international law, resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative with the aim of ending the Israeli occupation and enabling the Palestinian people to exercise their inalienable national rights, including the right of return, self-determination, and embodying the establishment of their independent, sovereign state on the borders June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
