The Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riyad Al-Malki – through the permanent mission of Palestine to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague – sent a letter to the prosecutor of the ICC to accelerate taking the practical steps regarding the latter’s criminal investigation into the situation in Palestine. Al-Maliki also requested the prosecutor to issue a strongly worded statement outlining the occupation’s transgressions; its war crimes against humanity in the context of its aggression in the Gaza Strip, and its attempts to evacuate the residents of Sheikh Jarrah by force. Al-Maliki stressed the need to point out the individuals whose actions would be investigated, particularly the Israeli Prime Minister, the Minister of Defense, and the Chief of Staff of the Army. Al-Maliki pointed out that all the oppressive measures taken by the Israeli occupation authorities in Jerusalem are illegal acts for which the occupation must be held accountable.
