The President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, said that the existential threat posed by the Israeli occupation through its control over Palestinian land and resources, most importantly water, remaines the greatest challenge to development and advancement of the national economy. In a speech on the occasion of World Water Day, Abbas stressed that controlling and preserving water resources is one of the most important symbols of sovereignty and statehood, and is one of the final solution issues that cannot be waived, and must be solved in accordance with international law.
