The Palestinian National Council has stressed on the importance of implementing Geneva Conventions that is related to the protection of prisoners and their rights through its letter to the parliaments of the world and their unions; As a result of the continued negligence and the deliberate medical negligence of the pursued Israeli occupation policies in its prisons, in addition to its failure to follow the necessary health measures in order to protect Palestinian prisoners since the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
The Council has also indicated in its letters that approximately 700 prisoners are sick among them 300 prisoners suffer from chronic diseases and in urgent need of medical attention. Therefore, there is an absolute necessity for their release as their lives are in serious danger as a result of the outbreak of the Coronavirus in the Israeli occupation prisons.
The Palestinian National Council has also called for an immediate and urgent intervention to save the life of the Palestinian prisoner Kamal Abu Wa’ar (46 years old) who suffers from both cancer and the Coronavirus. The council also has warned the Parliaments and unions from the fact that the life of the Palestinian prisoner Abu Wa’ar, who has been detained for 18 years, is in serious danger and requires immediate intervention in order to be saved as he suffers from a cancerous tumor in his throat, recently was infected with the Coronavirus and is currently suffering from a serious deterioration in his health, and in urgent need to receive the appropriate treatment.
