Researcher Dr. Ahmed al-Ashkar issued a paper published by the Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD) entitled: “In the wake of the ICC’s Pre-Trial Chamber’s decision concerning the Court’s territorial jurisdiction over the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel in 1967:Challenges and Opportunities.” The paper sheds light on the challenges and opportunities available to prosecute the leaders of the occupying power after the issuance of the Pre-Trial Chamber I decision of the International Criminal Court (the “Chamber”) on February 5, 2021. It also discusses the general contexts surrounding this decision, expectations as well as concerns about the course of the investigation,  and the possibility of limiting the investigations to the Palestinians, and what is required from the Palestinians to confront this.
