The Arab League affirmed that any attempts to undermine the rights of the Palestinian people and ignore the principles of international law and resolutions of international legitimacy are doomed to failure. On the occasion of the celebration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, sent a letter in which he said that any approach towards imposing a fait accompli or proposing initiatives and plans are not in line with these principles, foundations and international references for the peace process based on the principle of land for peace and under the vision of the two-state solution will end and become a thing of the past, and the Palestinian right will remain constant, not forfeited by the statute of limitations or by any other means. He called on everyone to assume responsibility towards the Palestinian people and their just cause and to continue to support international institutions working in the field of relief, foremost among which is UNRWA.
