Following the Government’s intention to endorse construction plans for Palestinians in Area C, the Board of Settlements affirmed in an emergency meeting that it is “unreasonable for Palestinians to be allowed to build at a time when construction is frozen for Jews,” considering that the Government links the Jewish construction with the Palestinians, whom the Council considers to “have no right to exist.” Local Council President Benny Gantz said that only 14 housing units were approved for Israelis out of 2,000 applications and, in return, 1,000 housing units were approved for Palestinians.
