The Taylor and Francis Group has published a new paper titled “The Light at the End of the Tunnel: The Gaza Strip and the Interaction between Geopolitical Conflict and the Renewable Energy Transition” by Itai Fischendler, Leor Hermann, and Lewis David. This study is the first to use remote sensing to study the temporal and spatial spread of renewable energy in the Gaza Strip against the background of the conflict conditions with Israel. The research concludes that Gaza has become a leader in the field of renewable energy despite conflict conditions exacerbated by extreme poverty. The study adds that the balance between the discouraging and encouraging factors is based on various variables, including: the impact of the conflict on the freedom of movement of labor, goods and fuel, and the costs of producing alternative energy.
