The UK Consul-General in Jerusalem Philip Hall confirmed his country’s position rejecting the Israeli settlement policy in the West Bank, including Jerusalem. The UK Consul said, the Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories are illegal and constitute an obstacle to achieving peace. He affirmed: the UK is committed to providing political and economic support to the Palestinian government to continue building state institutions and achieving the national aspiration of the Palestinian people for self-determination. Hall also added: the UK continues its political support for the Palestinian people, and this was translated through its refusal to move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, and its rejection of the annexation plan, and it continues to provide economic support to the Palestinian people, and to provide humanitarian aid to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
