The UN called on the Israeli authorities to cease the demolition and seizure of Palestinian homes and fulfil their obligations as an occupying power under international humanitarian law. The Deputy Spokesman for the Secretary-General, Farhan Haq, said: “On Thursday, Israeli forces dismantled and confiscated an apartment building in Himsat Al-Bqei, Aghwar Shamaliyah District, and on Wednesday 84 Palestinians lost their homes in Ras al-Tin, Ramallah province, when Israeli forces confiscated at least 49 buildings.” He added, “Palestinians reside in these area every summer for grazing, but they are now at increased risk of forced displacement from the area […] following the fact that the UN has repeatedly called on Israel to cease the demolition and the confiscation of Palestinian property, and fulfil its obligations as an occupying Power under international humanitarian law.
