US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken pledged that the Biden administration will deal with “the grave humanitarian situation in Gaza” and that it would seek “equal security measures” for Israelis and Palestinians. Blinken said the ceasefire was “decisive” for the United States “to build a more positive situation,” and reiterated that the administration supports the two-state solution. He said: “This must start by dealing with the grave humanitarian situation in Gaza, followed by reconstruction and rebuilding what was lost, most importantly engaging both sides in an attempt to start making real improvements in people’s lives so that Israelis and Palestinians can live with equal measures of security, peace and dignity.”He added: “It is very important for the Palestinians to feel hope, have opportunities and live in security as is the case. As for the Israelis, there should be equal measures.” Blinken said that the administration would rely on “reliable, independent parties that can assist in reconstruction and development, not on a quasi-governmental authority.” For further details, click here
