The Turkish Foreign Ministry condemned the decision of the Israeli occupation authorities to issue a tender for the construction of 1257 new settlement units in the settlement of “Givat Hamatos”, which is built on the lands of the town of Beit Safafa, southeast of occupied Jerusalem. In a statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said, “Israel has demonstrated once again that it continues to violate international law and infringe upon the rights of the Palestinian people through its decision on the construction of a new illegal settlement area consisting of 1,257 housing units in East Jerusalem.” It added, “It is clear that Israel is trying to prevent the establishment of a contiguous, independent and sovereign State of Palestine by building additional illegal settlements between East Jerusalem and the West Bank.” The Turkish Foreign Ministry affirmed that the Palestinian lands belonging to the Palestinian people, and called on the international community that supports the vision of the two-state solution to oppose such Israeli aggressive actions.
