The United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Lynne Hastings, called on the Israeli authorities to stop any demolition of Palestinian homes and properties, to allow the humanitarian community to carry out its work in Humsa al-Qi’a, and to provide facilities to rebuild the homes of the residents of the community and to remain in it with dignity. Hastings called for a complete lifting of the “debilitating” closures imposed on the Gaza Strip. “Israel should ease the restrictions it imposes on the movement of goods and people in and out of the Gaza Strip, in line with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1860 of 2009, with the aim of eventually lifting them,” Hastings said in a statement. She added that Israel should fulfill its obligations under international humanitarian law, as humanitarian aid is not conditional. For further details, click here
