In a joint press release, UN Palestinian Women’s Commission and the Regional Office of UN Organizations for Women in the Arab States expressed grave concern over the continued violence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and Israel, particularly the targeting of the civilian population and the killing of innocent people, including women and children. The Commission called upon the international community to take note of the impact of this cycle of violence on vulnerable groups, in particular women and children who are currently at risk of forced eviction in East Jerusalem and demolition of homes in Gaza. They further noted the need for extensive humanitarian support that takes into account gender differences, while acknowledging the asymmetric nature of the current escalation and its consequences.
