The Program and External Relations Committee of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has recommended to the Executive Board of the organization to adopt a resolution condemning the excavation, tunneling works and projects in East Jerusalem, especially in around the Old City; and settler road construction and building a wall inside the Old City of Hebron. In addition, it must call on Israel to stop these works. The decision has regretted Israel’s refusal to appoint a permanent representative of UNESCO in East Jerusalem and stressed on the urgent need to dispatch the UNESCO Interactive Monitoring Mission to the Old City of Jerusalem.
