The United Nations General Assembly adopted the resolution of the “Permanent sovereignty of the Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem.” 153 countries voted in favor of the resolution, 6 countries voted against it, while 17 countries abstained. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riyad Al-Maliki, said that voting in favor of this resolution confirms the right of the Palestinian people to their natural resources, including land, energy, and water, without diminishing their rights in their sea, and their right to compensation for the Israeli occupation’s exploitation of their natural resources. Furthermore, he called on the international community to abide by the implementation of international decisions and to guarantee the Palestinian people freedom to use their land, rights, and resources and put an end to all acts of exploitation, abuse, and theft.
