UNICEF, through a statement it published, called for the prevention of further escalation and to protect all children in East Jerusalem. The statement indicated that over the past two days, 29 Palestinian children were injured in East Jerusalem, eight Palestinian children were meanwhile arrested. UNICEF said that all children should be protected from violence and kept out of harm’s way at all times. It also added that the rights of families to access all places of worship should be preserved and those injured be assisted without restrictions. It urged the Israeli authorities to refrain from using violence against children and to release all children it detained.
