The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates (MOFAE) condemned the Israeli occupation forces’ storming of the Dome of the Rock Chapel, preventing the completion of the restoration work inside it and terrorizing workers and threatening them with deportation and detention. The Ministry held the Government of the Israeli Occupation fully and directly responsible for the continued aggression against the mosque, considering it a serious provocation to the feelings of Arabs and Muslims. It considered that Israel is attempting to drag the region into a religious conflict, calling on the competent international organizations, including “UNESCO,” to assume their legal and moral responsibilities in the face of the continuing attacks on Christian and Islamic holy places in Jerusalem.
